Kalimanku is an exploration of the cycle of birth, death, and transformation. The live Bulgarian musical accompaniment is taken from the tradition of Bulgarian women's folk music which has a strong emphasis on storytelling and conversation through music; we extend this into storytelling and conversation through images. The collaborative multi-media approach to shadow theatre explores ways of extending and decorating the human body with natural objects such as branches and leaves.
